There have been so many special moments we have shared with our two (2) students over the past
semester that to choose one is difficult….
We have spent many weekends and evening meals sharing laughs, the day’s news and happenings….
We’ve had many walks along our beach, trips to George’s River convenience for some great ice cream, the
Fortress Louisbourg with some very memorable moments where the girls had a special experience where
one of the soldiers showed them how to handle and clean a musket to explaining what life was really like at
the Fortress during those hard times.
We also were fortunate in having another student (from Rome) join us on our many excursions and
adventures as well as sharing meals with them. One memorable Sunday afternoon where we decided to
have an authentic Italian meal, we invited the other student to join us in making fresh pasta and enjoying it
with an authentic Roman pasta sauce made by him, complimented by fresh shaved parmigiano cheese,
fresh baked bread, and all finished off with a beautiful Panettone bread from Rome, Italy, which he brought
with him.
This was one of the many memorable afternoons and things we did together as we had many laughs and
fun with the food and so many stories to share over that wonderful meal….you could see friendship and
love around the table, so alive were we all, that it stayed with us, but doesn’t overshadow many other
wonderful, fun and crazy times we all shared together as a family of five (5), our two (2) wonderful students
(Italy & Germany), our adopted Italian son from Rome and ourselves….
To say that our experience in hosting these wonderful students was a pleasure would be an
understatement. It has been a privilege to see these young people grow with confidence and leaving with
so many wonderful memories and lifelong friendships, we have been left with an indescribable experience
of love and sharing….
Thank you for the opportunity to express this and share some of the memorable moments that occurred
over this past semester.
